Physical and chemical properties
Sodium referred to as SDBS. White or light yellow powder or flake solid. Difficult to volatilize, easily soluble in water, soluble in water to form a translucent solution. Chemically stable to alkali, dilute acid and hard water, slightly toxic. It is a commonly used anionic surfactant.
Surfactant
Sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate, anionic surfactant, a very typical sulfonate. It has the functions of decontamination and emulsification, and can be used as a detergent and other applications. However, the hard water resistance is slightly weaker, and the matching effect with chelating agents is better. It has a wide range of applications, and its typical use is in washing powder.
Cleansing effect
Sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate is a yellow oily substance. After purification, it can form hexagonal or rhombohedral strong flaky crystals. It is slightly toxic and has been identified as a safe chemical raw material by international safety organizations.
Sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate can be used in fruit and tableware cleaning. It is used in the largest amount in detergents. Due to the large-scale automated production, the price is low. The sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate used in detergents has branched chains Structure (ABS) and linear structure (LAS) two. The branched chain structure has low biodegradability and will cause pollution to the environment, while the straight chain structure is easy to biodegrade, the biodegradability can be greater than 90%, and the degree of environmental pollution is small.
Sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate is neutral, sensitive to water hardness, not easy to oxidize, strong foaming power and high detergency. It is easy to compound with various additives, the cost is low, and the synthesis process is mature. It has a wide range of applications and is an excellent anionic surfactant.
Sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate has a significant decontamination effect on particle dirt, protein dirt and oily dirt. Excellent cleaning action on particulate soils on natural fibers. The detergency increases with the increase of washing temperature. The effect on protein dirt is higher than that of non-ionic surfactants, and the foam is rich.
In recent years, in order to obtain a better comprehensive cleaning effect, sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate is often used in combination with nonionic surfactants such as fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether (AEO). The main use of sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate is to prepare various types of liquid, powder, and granular detergents, cleaners, and cleaning agents.
Storage Precautions
Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. should be kept away from oxidizer, do not store together. Equipped with the appropriate variety and quantity of fire equipment. Storage areas should be equipped with suitable materials to contain spills.
Hazard overview
Health hazards: This product is basically non-toxic. Its concentrated solution has a certain stimulating effect on the skin. At present, there are no reports of occupational poisoning.
Explosion hazard: Explosion hazard.
first-aid
Skin contact: Take off contaminated clothing and rinse with plenty of running water.
Eye contact: Lift eyelids, rinse with running water or normal saline, seek medical attention.
Inhalation: Get away from the scene to fresh air; if breathing is difficult, give oxygen and seek medical attention.
Ingestion: Drink plenty of warm water, induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Hazardous characteristics: Combustible in case of open flame and high heat. Reacts with oxidizing agents. Decomposed by high heat releases toxic gas.
Hazardous combustion products: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, sulfide, sodium oxide.
Fire extinguishing method: Firefighters must wear gas masks and full-body fire suits, and put out the fire in the upwind direction. Extinguishing agent: mist water, foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide, sand.
Spill emergency treatment
Isolate the leaked contaminated area and restrict access. Cut off the fire source. It is recommended that emergency personnel wear dust masks (full face masks) and protective clothing. Avoid raising dust, sweep it up carefully, put it in a bag and transfer it to a safe place. If a large amount of leakage occurs, cover it with plastic sheeting or canvas.
Collect and recycle or transport to waste disposal site for disposal.
Operation precautions
Airtight operation, strengthen ventilation. Operators must undergo special training and strictly abide by the operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear self-priming filter dust masks, chemical safety goggles, anti-poison infiltration overalls, and rubber gloves.
Keep away from fire and heat sources, and smoking is strictly prohibited in the workplace. Use explosion-proof ventilation systems and equipment.
Avoid generating dust. Avoid contact with oxidants.
When handling, load and unload lightly to prevent damage to packaging and containers.
Equipped with corresponding types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment. Empty containers may be harmful residues.
